I guess you could say my work in production began when I was 8 years old. My parents gave me an old tape recorder and I spent hours recording different sounds. I created radio shows and audio soap operas. I took my personal training up a notch when I began splicing the tape in strange ways and putting it back together with scotch tape and listening to the results.
My early Jr. High days brought my first encounter with a music video on TV. I knew this new medium was something very special. From then I envisioned music videos in my mind, set to my favorite songs. Anytime my family would travel anywhere I would spot great locations to shoot my music videos.
In high school I began a film club. We would video tape school events and show them on a big TV screen in the school lobby. I also wrote and directed an episode of “Tales from the Darkside”. I learned that editing between 2 VCRs was cumbersome…and the result wasn’t very pretty.
After high school I joined the real world as a stock broker but it wasn't long before the need to create with sounds and images came back to haunt me. I was miserable being a cog in the corporate wheel. I eventually quit the world of finance and went back to school. Film school.
I describe my craft as "discovering and using sounds and images to create the most powerful story possible."
After paying my dues working as a wedding videographer and editor for 4 years, I started my own company Red Thread Stories to help adoptive parents tell their story. I created Attic Box Stories as an extension of that company so I can help all families tell theirs.
